Agriculture Markets Report - Thursday, March 22
7 years ago

Tariffing ur agriculture sector makes sense because the US certainly engages in support to our agriculture sector. The only issue is most countries should applaud it because it keeps people fed all over the globe and keeps food prices lower. Of course, the same could be said about Asia's electronics and Europe's just about everything they make. This is why global trade works.

Hack up global trade and what we get is inefficiency. This leads to inflation all over the globe right along with lower growth. Already the effects of just talking about agriculture tariffs will have a bad effect on our US agriculture market. The damage is being done just by speaking about it. Republicans need to take action to prevent a Republican President from creating a crisis by implementing the worse trade ideas from the socialist and democratic side of the isle. Go figure. The Republicans stand to lose a lot of seats by their President embracing anti-Republican trade ideas.

LOL, it seems like central banks have been making it worse throughout history. I think current central bankers are trying desperately to make something worse than what Greenspan made. Apparently that is hard to do so they engaged in zirp and QE hoping the next downturn will come when we have no growth, no ability to lower rates, and our central bank is too heavily leveraged with QE to engage in more QE.

The good news is unless this trade war gets really messy, it may still be a while until everything comes to a head.

5 Industrial Stocks To Buy As Manufacturing Activity Rises

A lot of the rebound in industrial construction centered around increased military spending which I don't see rising substantially given the way the US deficit is already ballooning. Sadly a trade war will likely make growth slow further and certainly detracts from capital spending until everything is hashed out.

Treasuries will be interesting to watch. They can either fall as trade wars slow all economies involved or rise because those we engage in trade wars may take an unusual action of forcing up yields or outright cutting participation in the massively elevated flow of US debt coming onto the market due to Trump's tax cuts.

This is just about the worse time to start a trade war, right after running up the US deficit unless your goal is to massively devalue the US dollar, cause inflation, and kill economic growth at home and globally. If even some of these are the goals, the administration will be getting a lot more unpopular. The Fiscally conservative Republican's need to take a stand and do something before Trump initiates the Most Democratic socialist trade policy in recent history. This is all very astonishing given it's coming from a Republican Administration.

Q1 Earnings Season To Show Growth Acceleration

None of that matters anymore. As the trade war issue takes headlines the past really will not be a good indicator of the near term future. The issue for the market is "just how bad will it get". Republican capitalists need to pull Trump from advancing socialist Democratic dogma on the trade front.

Petroleum Springs Ahead

Oil certainly looks to be stabilizing to the point of being sustainable medium term. Natural gas seems more seasonal and unless Asia gobbles tons more of it, I am not as favorable as to the sustainability of current prices.

The main reason for the selloff is worries over a trade war. Until this is resolved or Trump steps away from promoting a policy that has no business being in the Republican party, or any party that supports capitalism, don't expect a strong rally.

More details need to be forthcoming which I'm sure we will get. Sadly, this likely is just one of many honeypots being used by people to harvest users data. Facebook needs to clamp down on what they allow companies to do to take advantage of users. Sadly, the best advice is to limit your Facebook data and usage and assume what you post is going to be used by others to advertise and make money off you. This is, sadly, the main purpose of social media from Friendster to Myspace.

At least Facebook has been able to limit the sleaze.
