Headline Durable Goods Orders Up In September, Last Three Of Four Months
Core Capital Goods New Orders (nondefense capital goods used in the production of goods or services, excluding aircraft) is an important gauge of business spending, often referred to as Core Capex. It is up 1.3% MoM and up 7.8% YoY.
Treasury Yields - A Long-Term Perspective
Last year was a remarkable one for yields. The 10-year note hit its historic closing low of 1.37% in July and then rose 123 BPs to its 2016 closing high of 2.60% in mid-December. The yield on the 10-year note to date has dropped to 2.42%.
World Markets Update - Tuesday, October 24
All eight indexes have posted gains for 2017 through October 23. The top performer thus far is Hong Kong's Hang Seng with a gain of 28.66%, followed by India's BSE Sensex at 21.79%. In third is our own S&P 500 with 14.57%.

The S&P 500 opened Friday well above yesterday's close and climbed throughout the day, closing with a daily gain of 0.51% and a weekly gain of 0.86%. Year-to-date, the index is up 15.02%.

The yield on the 10-year note ended the day at 2.39% and the 30-year bond closed at 2.89%.
