Muckraker of the Financial System
The Fed knew about the housing bubble before it burst but lied and said they didn't: Bill HR 1424 to buy bad paper (eventually called TARP) was introduced in March 9, 2007, before there began to be bad commercial paper from private subprime RE loans, in August. I have published on two other ...more

This Is Now The Worst Possible Environment For Stock Market Investors

It took a long time, longer than they thought it would, but with the man on the street investing it is getting time to fleece him with a crash.

And one more point, Ritholtz at least recognized that the housing bubble was a premeditated scam, caused by the central banks with the BIS's blessing. Maybe they just looked the other way.

You aren't a regular Austrian, Mish. You can't defend them. They thought inflation was on the way, big time. All we had was asset inflation.

And for them, credit deflation is no different than retooling after a war deflation (1921) or technological price deflation. The only alternative to QE is to give people in the US more money. They are the spenders in the world, not the Chinese. Pay them more. There is NO OTHER ANSWER.

The Best Argument For The Minimum Wage Is Not Good Enough

Companies are making record profits. Labor is not getting the respect it deserves. All work has dignity and this capitalist argument that some jobs aren't worthy of paying a living wage, when the same capitalists are speculating on housing and driving the prices up, is a lie.

Whatever Happened To Optimism ?

I read it. I guess it depends on the meltdown of commodities and China. China uses copper as collateral in derivatives contracts. Zombie banks in China freezing up should be watched. China bailed out the Fed for years by stockpiling assets, driving up the cost of living for Americans.

Now, if you are of the opinion that a lower cost of living and stronger dollar could cause Americans to spend more, with more spending power, then you could see a rally. I just happen to think the American consumer has been deeply wounded, and that he is less resilient than in the past. And multinational corporations have staked so much on China and everyone but the US consumer, you have to wonder what their earnings will look like.

And one more issue, Carol, what about the fact that the recovery has created poor paying jobs and the millennials are conservative? In this environment, how can the American consumer be that golden goose of world prosperity again?

I hope you are right, though.

This is probably correct. I wrote about Piketty and his mistaken globalist approach to wealth distribution. It seems just, but in practice it just makes nations less sovereign. There must be control of offshoring, but a globalist approach will only strengthen the globalists: www.talkmarkets.com/.../thomas-piketty-does-not-have-the-best-solution-for-stopping-the-offshoring-of-wealth

That is a tough situation, Charles. Disney may be kind of weak, charging more and more and paying less and less. That can't be a good sign.

The Revolt Against The Ruling Class

Well, there is a video with the LBJ interview saying that "others" were involved. And his mistress is on video saying that she believes he was in on it. She quoted him word for word that his humiliation would be over by the next day. That was the night of the 21st.

There is a video showing the killer of Lee Harvey Oswald saying he was responsible for it. I have no doubt LBJ and his friends did it Vixen.

Truth is, Vixen, LBJ was a globalist and JFK was for national sovereignty. The globalists won.

I think it is a reflection of weakness in big business. Disney, I found out, pays 9 dollars an hour to 1099 people. That is disgusting, in my view.

The Revolt Against The Ruling Class

The coup took place in 1963. And from various videos of LBJ, his mistress and other major players, JFK never stood a chance against the "Ruling Class".
