China is still growing, faster than the USA. Is this:

1. fear of the Chinese market?

2. just a manipulation of politics?

3. maybe fear that this money will be needed for margin calls in the overvalued US market?

The money that went out of Chinese stocks in the Great Recession was not a function of banks or the economy going bad it China. After all, the Chinese didn't submit to mark to market, and did not sign the Basel 2 Accords! No, it was because people had to sell assets because they were fearful of what could happen to the US stock market.

Sounds like a bigger problem for the US Government, and traders like yourself, Walt, than for China. Trump started this war. And by the way, it helps the rest of the world for the Chinese currency to be lower. And if anything, this process could hurt Trump dearly since many Chinese will be priced out of buying US goods. Instead of increasing our customer base in China we seem to be doing all we can to lower it!

This article illustrates the complexity of world events as well as anything I have read. Still, to give up on free trade remains dangerous and hurtful to economies everywhere, including in the USA. First tariffs, then depression, then war. We can't play that game with nukes all over the place. It has to stop with the tariffs. Drastic tariffs must be put on hold.
