Founded by Tokushichi Nomura on December 25, 1925, and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Nomura Holdings, Inc. is a holding company which providing investment and financial services.

It operates through three segments: (1)Retail, (2) Investment Management, and (3) Wholesale and Merchant Banking.

Three key data points gauge NMR or any dividend-paying entity, namely:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

NMR Price

Nomura’s share price was up 37% last year from  $5.18 to $7.10 per Friday’s market price. One analyst covers the stock.

The analyst’s one-year price target was $7.58.

That $0.48 annual increase, of course, could also stay flat, or decline, per market action.

NMR Dividends

Nomura has paid a variable annual and recent semi-annual dividend since January 1987.

The current forward-looking annual dividend of $0.2376 yields 3.38% as of Friday’s share price.

NMR Returns

Putting it all together, a $0.7176 estimated gross gain per share shows up when adding NMR’s annual $0.2376 dividend to the analyst-estimated $0.48 annual price gain.

A little over $1000 invested at Friday’s $7.10 share price would buy 141 shares which, multiply the $0.7176 estimated gross gain to $101.07 for the coming year.

About 34% of that $101 gain comes from the annual $33.50 dividend generated from your $1,000 investment. Furthermore, the $33.50 annual dividend income from $1,000 invested is about 4.7 times greater than the recent $7.10 single-share price.

(A dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a stock that pay an annual dividend from $1000 invested that is greater than the cost of a single share.)

4.7 is more than 1.

Therefore, you could choose to pounce on Nomura Holdings with its dividend payout 4.7 times the single share price.

The exact track of NMR’s future share price and dividends will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
