Founded by Cadwallader C. Washburn on June 20, 1928, and is headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. General Mills, Inc. (GIS) manufactures and markets branded consumer foods sold through retail stores.

It operates through the four segments: (1)North America Retail, (2) International, (3) North America Pet, and (4) North America Foodservice.

Three key data points gauge GIS or any dividend-paying entity, namely:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

GIS Price

General Mills share price was down 29.65% last year from  $68.30 to $48.05 per Tuesday’s market price. Nineteen analysts cover the stock.

Their median annual price target estimate increase was $5.98.

That annual increase would put the GIS stock price for 2026 at $53.53.

Of course, the price could also stay flat or decline per market action.

GIS Dividends

General Mills has paid variable quarterly dividends since November 1989.

The current forward-looking annual dividend of $2.44 yields 5.08% as of Tuesday’s share price.

GIS Returns

Putting it all together, a $7.39 estimated gross gain per share shows up when adding GIS’s annual $2.44 dividend to an estimated $4.95 annual price gain.

A little over $1000 invested at Tuesday’s $48.05 share price would buy 21 shares which, multiply the $7.39 estimated gross gain to $153.80 for the coming year.

33% of that $154 gain comes from the annual $50.80 dividend generated from your $1,000 investment.

Furthermore, the $50.80 annual dividend income from $1,000 invested is over 5.75% greater than the recent $48.05 single-share price.

(A dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a stock that pay an annual dividend from $1000 invested that is greater than the cost of a single share.)

5.75% is more than zero%.

Therefore, you could choose to pounce on General Mills with its dividend payout of 5.75% over the single share-price.

The exact track of GIS’s future share price and dividends will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
