Sensex Today Tanks 523 Points; Nifty Below 25,350

Asian markets traded lower on Friday, tracking an overnight decline on Wall Street amid selling in technology stocks.

US stock market ended lower on Thursday, weighed down by a sell-off in tech stocks amid concerns over mounting economic uncertainty and stretched valuations.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 523 points lower, and the NSE Nifty is trading 160 points lower.

ICICI Bank is among the top gainers today.

Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech, and TCS, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE Midcap index is trading 1% lower, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 1.2% lower.

Sectoral indices are negative today, with stocks in the media sector and the telecommunication sector witnessing selling pressure.

The rupee is trading at Rs 88.7 against the US dollar.
 

Singtel Sells Small Stake in Airtel

Through a block deal worth Rs 103 bn, Pastel Ltd, a subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel), plans to sell off roughly 0.8% of its stake in Bharti Airtel Ltd.

The transaction's floor price of Rs 2,030 per share represents a 3.08 percent discount to Airtel's Thursday closing price of Rs 2,094.60 on the BSE.

Pastel will sell about 5.1 crore shares of Bharti Airtel as part of Singtel's plan to better manage its investments and increase returns for shareholders.

In May 2025, Singtel sold a 1.2% direct stake in Bharti Airtel for about Rs 125 bn through a private placement to international and Indian institutional investors, including some of Airtel's existing shareholders.
 

Lupin Q2 Results

Shares of Lupin came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.

Revenue from operations grew 24.2% to Rs 70.4 bn from Rs 56.7 bn in the same period last year.

With the EBITDA margin rising to 33.2% from 25.2% a year earlier, operational efficiency was a major highlight. A favourable product mix and successful cost-control measures were credited with the improvement.

Strong demand in the US and Indian markets was a major factor in growth. The formulation business in India contributed 37% of global revenue, representing an 18.8% increase, while North American sales made up 36%.

Sales were significantly increased by the introduction of new products, including sophisticated generics.

For the quarter ended 30 September 2025, Lupin's consolidated net profit rose to Rs 14.7 bn, compared with Rs 8.5 bn in Q2 FY25.

Bajaj Housing Finance Q2 Results

Shares of Bajaj Housing Finance came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.

In comparison to the Rs 24.1 b reported by the company in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year, the company's revenue in the reviewed quarter was Rs 27.5 bn a 14% increase.

While the topline increased by 5.3% on a quarter-over-quarter basis from 26.2 bn reported in the April-June quarter of FY26, the profit after tax (PAT) increased by 10% on a sequential basis from Rs 5.8 bn in Q1FY26.

In Q2FY26, the Bajaj Finance-backed company's net interest income (NII) increased by 34% to Rs 9.5 bn from Rs 7.1 bn in the same period last year. The net interest margins (NIMs) were 4%, unchanged from the same period last year but down 10 basis points from 4.1%.

At Rs 2,270 bn, its Assets Under Management (AUM) increased 24% year over year from Rs 1,020 bn in Q2FY25. Compared to Rs 54.9 bn for Q2FY25 and Rs 57.3 bn for Q1FY26, the AUM for the second quarter of FY26 increased to Rs 63.3 bn.

The home loans grew 19% while loans against property jumped 29%.The company reported a net profit of Rs 6.4 bn in the September-ended quarter, recording an 18% from Rs 5.4 bn reported in the year-ago period.
