Sensex Today Tanks 519 Points; Nifty Below 25,600
After opening the day lower, the benchmark indices continued their downward momentum and ended the session in the red.
Indian equity markets indices Sensex and Nifty saw a renewed selloff in the latter half of the session on Tuesday, led by a decline in information technology and metal stocks.
According to the circular on the exchanges, Indian stock market will remain closed tomorrow, 5 October 2025, on account of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed lower by 519 points (down 0.6%)
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 165 points lower (down 0.6%).
Titan, Bajaj Finance, and Bharti Airtel are among the top gainers today.
Power Grid Corp, Tata Steel, Bharat Elec, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.
The GIFT Nifty was trading at 25,653 lower by 265 points at the time of writing.
The BSE MidCap index ended 0.2% lower and BSE SmallCap index ended 0.6% lower.
Baring telecommunication sector all other sectoral indices are trading negative today with stocks in IT sector and metal sector witnessed selling pressure.
The rupee is trading at Rs 88.7 against the US$.
Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.3% lower at Rs 120,954 per 10 grams.
Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 1% lower at Rs 146,201 per 1 kg.
Dynamatic Technologies surges on AMCA deal
In the news from engineering sector, shares of Dynamatic Technologies came into focus after the consortium of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), which is spearheading India's 5th Generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme, announced the onboarding of Dynamatic Technologies as an exclusive partner for the project.
The collaboration will make use of L&T's engineering skills, BEL's sophisticated electronics knowledge, and Dynamatic's worldwide experience in producing intricate aerostructures and subsystems for top aerospace OEMs.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen indigenous aerospace manufacturing and accelerate the development of the AMCA fighter jet.
Dynamatic Technologies Limited is an Indian engineering company that designs and makes high-precision products for hydraulics, aerospace, and metallurgy. It serves global clients by supplying key parts for agriculture, construction, defence, and aviation industries.
Hero MotoCorp Shares Drop on Sales
Moving on to the news from auto sector, shares of Hero MotoCorp came into focus after the company reported a decline in total sales for the month of October 2025.
Hero MotoCorp said that total sales in October 2025 fell 6.4% year-over-year (Y-o-Y) to 6.35 lakh units, down from 6.79 lakh units in the same month the previous year.
Exports increased 42.8% to 30,979 units from 21,688 units a year ago, while the company's domestic sales data decreased 8% to 6.04 lakh units from 6.57 lakh units.
The company recorded its second successive month of the festive season sales with over 6 lakh wholesale dispatches in October 2025.
The positive performance, as per the company, reflected sustained festive momentum and renewed customer confidence, further supported by favourable market conditions, including GST benefits.
Hero MotoCorp management thinks the company is well-positioned for continued growth through the rest of FY26 thanks to a strong product lineup, strong domestic demand, and growing international presence.
The company stated that, supported by state-of-the-art technology and customer-focused innovation, it is continuing to fortify its mobility ecosystem across the premium, ICE, and electric vehicle (EV) segments.

Power Grid Q2 Results
Moving on to the news from power sector, shares of Power Grid Corp came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.
In the September 2025 quarter, revenue from operations increased 1.76% to Rs 114.7 billion (bn) from Rs 112.7 bn in the same period the previous year.
With an increase of Rs 7.4 bn in other expenses, EBITDA came in at Rs 91 bn, down 6% year-over-year (Y-o-Y).
Due to increased expenses, the EBITDA margin decreased from 86% in the same period last year to 79.4% in the current quarter.
Power Grid Corp reported a 5.98% decline in net profit to Rs 35.6 bn for the quarter ended September 2025, compared with Rs 37.9 bn in the corresponding quarter last year.
