Remote work in the United States is steadily declining after its surge during the COVID-19 pandemic. At its peak, more than 60% of Americans were working from home, but that figure has fallen sharply as many employees have returned to the office. Today, roughly 25% of workers remain remote, which is less than half the level seen in 2020. Despite continued advances in technology that make remote work more feasible, many employers remain hesitant to fully embrace it. Concerns around productivity, collaboration, and company culture have led organizations to push for a return to in-person work, signaling a broader shift back toward traditional workplace norms.
