The S&P 500 is on track for another exceptional year of performance, but a closer look at the winners reveals an even more striking trend. Of the 50 best-performing S&P 500 companies so far this year, 29 are from the Technology sector, more than half of the entire top 50. Energy and healthcare follow far behind, with just 7 companies for energy and 5 companies for healthcare making the top 50. Meanwhile, four sectors stand out for their absence: Communication Services, Utilities, Consumer Discretionary & Real Estate have zero companies among the 50 best-performing S&P 500 stocks so far this year. The takeaway is clear as the S&P 500’s gains remain heavily concentrated in Technology.
