Gas prices have historically moved in close correlation with inflation. When gas prices reach new highs, inflation tends to rise as well, and vice versa. This relationship exists because energy is a foundational input across the economy. From food production and transportation to housing and manufacturing, higher energy costs ripple through supply chains and are ultimately passed on to consumers.
