6 reasons why Indian share markets are rising:
#1 Firm Global Cues
Asian markets opened higher, with South Korea's Kospi leading gains, while Japan, Shanghai and Hong Kong markets also traded in positive territory. US markets also ended higher on Wednesday, improving overall investor sentiment.
#2 Decline in US Bond Yields
US bond yields fell after the Treasury announced plans to increase its buyback of long-term debt. Lower yields can make equities more attractive and may also encourage foreign investors to invest in emerging markets such as India.
#3 FII Buying
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net buyers for the second straight session, purchasing Indian equities worth Rs 407 crore on August 19. Continued FII buying provided support to the market and helped improve investor sentiment.
#4 Rupee Rises
The Indian rupee gained 17 paise to 95.56 against the US dollar as the dollar weakened. A stronger rupee can also support market sentiment by easing concerns around imported costs and foreign fund flows.
#5 Buying in IT Shares
IT stocks gained 1.4%, extending their rise to 2% over the past two sessions. The recovery in IT shares helped support the benchmark indices after the sector had faced losses in the previous sessions.
#6 Value Buying
Investors stepped in to buy stocks at lower levels after the recent market decline. The buying helped the Nifty recover after it had fallen for seven consecutive sessions, its longest losing streak in 11 months.
