I launched RealDealRetirement.com for one reason: to provide realistic retirement-planning advice for real people leading real lives.The premise of the site is that retirement planning doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, simpler is better. RealDealRetirement helps you get the Big Things right—saving consistently, investing sensibly, judiciously managing your nest egg in retirement, monitoring your progress and making reasonable adjustments as you go along. The site also features an Ask Real Deal Retirement section where Walter will answer retirement and investing questions submitted by readers. During the 28 years I was at MONEY and the 12 years I wrote the Ask the Expert column for CNNMoney, I established myself as one of the nation's leading experts on retirement planning, investing and personal finance. In 2011 the Society of Business Editors and Writers named my Ask the Expert column the best online finance column of the year. I've appeared on many national TV programs, including NBC's Today, ABC's Nightline, CBS This Morning, CNN, the Oprah Winfrey Show and Charlie Rose. I've also been a featured speaker at seminars for Major League Baseball, the NBA and a variety of consumer groups and financial services firms and written four books on retirement planning and investing. I hold an economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania, but have never let that training prevent me from bringing humor and common-sense analysis to personal finance.
