Thomas Schneeweis, Ph.D., is now Professor Emeritus at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He is the Founding Editor of The Journal of Alternative Investments and is co-founder of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. He is also a Co-Founder of the non-profit Institute for Global Asset and Risk Management (INGARM) and the non-profit Chartered Alternative Investment Foundation. He has published more than 100 articles in the area of asset management. He has presented at major conferences globally, has been quoted in major financial publications, and has spoken on many financial news programs. He has been credited, in part, for the creation of asset allocation breakthroughs such as portable alpha and the development of hedge fund/managed futures tracking products. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, M.A. from the University of Wisconsin, and B.A. from St. John’s University
Professionally, he has more than 40 years’ experience in investment management. He is Partner and Head of Research at Yes Wealth Management which provides financial advisory as well as risk based asset allocation and Quantitative Investment Technologies which provides tracker based investment products. He was also a co-founder of Alternative Investment Analytics (a commodity investment firm that helped create the Bache Commodity Index) and White Bear Partners (an alternative asset investment firm focused on the creation of passive managed futures and hedge fund products). He has co-edited as well as co-authored several books in the area of asset management including The New Science of Asset Allocation: Risk Management in a Multi-Asset World (John Wiley, 2010) and PostModern Investment: Facts and Fallacies of Growing Wealth in a Multi-Asset World (John Wiley, Forthcoming, 2012).
