Sarah Cleveland is an independent investment consultant whose mission is to have sustainability principles considered in all investment decisions. In 2011 she founded Sarah Cleveland Consulting (SCC) to provide education, research and communication services to investors, asset managers, investment consultants, NGOs and research organizations. When appropriate, SCC will partner with allied professionals among a global network of practitioners. SCC’s projects typically relate to long-term investor interests that are impacted by natural resource constraints.
Sarah has been involved in economic research and financial services for over 20 years, and active in the sustainable investment since 2003. Previously Sarah consulted with a broad range of institutional investors as senior consultant with Towers Watson Investment Services and Rogerscasey.
Sarah currently serves as:
• Board member and Chair, Investment
• Board member of the Northwest Earth Institute;
• Advisory board member of the Journal of Environmental Investing; and
• Global Advisory Council member of Cornerstone Capital.
As a well-regarded expert in the field, Sarah has presented on sustainable investment at numerous conferences including the Institutional Investor Endowment & Foundation Roundtable, SACRS (State Association of County Retirement Systems), and the SRI Conference.
In addition to an M.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics, Sarah earned a B.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics, cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Affiliations include memberships with US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, Social Venture Network and Network for Sustainable Financial Markets. Sarah Cleveland Consulting became a signatory to the PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment) in 2014.
