Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Rabbi Cohen is a graduate of Yeshiva University in New York and its Azrieli Graduate School. He received his rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. After his ordination, he and his wife, Diane, spent a year in Israel, after which he returned to the States to serve as an assistant rabbi in West Orange, New Jersey. His first pulpit as a senior rabbi was in West Hartford and then moved on to a much larger synagogue in Denver with close to a thousand member units, a position he held for the three years immediately prior to coming to Congregation Agudath Sholom. Rabbi Cohen served as a national officer of the Rabbinical Council of America, a Regional Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League, a member of AIPAC National Council, and recent chairman of the Vaad of Fairfield County and the Stamford Rabbinical Council.
Rabbi Cohen also exudes a passion for Jewish outreach and for touching the lives of people of all faiths. While in West Hartford, he founded Jewish Links to share the joys of Judaism. He writes for the Huffington Post and recently launched the websites www.40daystoabetteryou.com and www.rabbidanielcohen.com. In anticipation of his new book, What Will They Say About You When You’re Gone: 7 Principles for Reverse Engineering Your Life, he delivers seminars across the country based on the seven principles of reverse engineering your life.
Rabbi Cohen’s charisma, knowledge, humor, and authenticity enable him to transcend backgrounds, faiths, and differences to unlock the spirit and potential in every human being. He is a sought-after speaker who loves to share his enthusiasm for life and inspire people to be their very best!
Rabbi Cohen and Diane are the grateful parents of six daughters, Sara Malka, Michal, Adina, Elisheva, Tamar, and Shalhevet.
