"Christianity, at least as it has been promoted officially, definitely implies that one only lives once, and there may – or will – be a kind of judgment of it. No reincarnation, multiple lives, or do-overs, That’s pretty scary. Fortunately it’s not true, but if you don’t know that some grotesque distortions can develop, like wanting to extend life “technologically.”
John, Cousin Brucie may very well know something about CB psychology and interest rates (from the previous) and, while I am loath to turn this into a forum on faith, what exactly qualifies him to make such a statement on Christianity?
First, does he have empirical evidence that reincarnation actually occurs, or does he merely "believe" it occurs? Would his evidence stand up to objective scrutiny or does he resort to bullying and shaming people to believe what he promulgates? Have you fallen into his trap? For Bruce no do-overs is frightening. Christians, however, do not need reincarnation to "do-over life "because repentance and salvation are available, here in this life. Of course, if one chooses to live like an unrepentant sociopath they are only fooling themselves and inheriting dust in the wind.
Second, Christians are no more inclined to utilize modern technology to improve their quality of life or even extend their life than are secular consumers of modern medicine or Jews, Muslims or Hindus. After all, modern medical and pharmaceutical advances occur under the auspices of "science," not faith and thus appeal to all. But is he ready to throw under the bus believers of other faiths so easily or does he avoid it for fear of death himself? Would he dare to ridicule Antifa or BLM if their members sought life saving medical treatment after the blowback from a building they incinerated or a police officer they shot? Wouldn't their hitherto nihilism suddenly come under suspicion?
Third, are Christains the only ones who benefit from longer lives? Is living longer exclusively a Christian desire? Assuming Bruce is an atheist or agnostic, is his life so miserable and wretched that he has developed a cognitive dissonance which operates to welcome death over life?
He says earlier:"For that matter, back to the coronavirus pandemic again, there is no recognition of the purposes of things like pandemics, and other mass events. They are actually very creative systems, sort of like weather conditions, that serve multiple purposes. And one of those purposes includes providing a face-saving way to die."
Creative systems? A face saving way to die? How absurd! As if living itself was a shameful enterprise all these years? Maybe for him but for me it hasn't been so if he wants to volunteer for the third and fourth and fifth jab more power to him. Maybe he can now rest peacefully after a shameful life.
And new life may indeed emerge from a pandemic but not until their primary function has been fulfilled, which is to destroy. Thus, make no mistake, the intent of the purveyors of this madness (for the pandemic did not emerge naturally) has been to destroy life and he, like you and I John, are targeted for destruction.
Lastly, Bruce should check his information more closely, and so should you before you post such an ignorant, misleading comment. The last person to be afraid of death is a true Christian (not the nominal type) for he/she has made peace with and reconciled with their Lord and is not afraid of His judgment. He knows his destiny is neither hell nor eternal nothingness but rather seated with Christ in Heaven, a certainty unilke the Fed's uncertainty about the market's response or Bruce's apparent uncertainty about his eternal destiny.
