Multi-disciplinary background (Economics, Finance, Law, Environmental Science) and 20+ years of experience on integrating climate change, ESG and impact factors into the investment process. Through his career, Mario has been involved in Private and Public markets, as well as in Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). His work has also included developing stakeholder engagements, grievance mechanisms, climate change, natural capital and biodiversity assessments, impact reporting and investment contributions to SDGs. An economist by training, with an MPA and a Law Degree, Mario started his career researching and developing PPP agreements that provided support for private equity impact funds. This PPP framework was used by US OPIC (currently US IDFC, with USD 60 bn in funds for investment) to expand its operations in Mexico. Mario's experience continued at the UN working on carbon finance on direct investments, and at Innovest and RiskMetrics, acquired by MSCI, developing ESG, climate and impact assessment frameworks for public equity and fixed income. He consulted as a Senior Responsible Investment Manager on private markets for APG, where he managed ESG integration for real assets deals and developed the global SDG investment strategy for the firm's Natural Resources Fund. Currently, Mario is the ESG Program Manager at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he oversees all aspects of BBH Investment Management’s ESG Program.less
