Leon is a Senior Investment Consultant and Senior Director of Hedge Fund Research at Willis Towers Watson in London. He is an adviser on hedge fund investments to the Towers Watson Investment Management funds business and is also actively involved in Willis Towers Watson’s hedge fund due diligence efforts having previously headed up the teams responsible for Long Short Equity, Event Driven/Multi-strategy/Macro/CTA/Commodities and Reinsurance Hedge Fund research. Leon has over 20 years of industry experience, is a regular contributor to the press and helps a number of large institutional clients to design, implement and monitor their direct hedge fund investment programmes. Leon has been a member of the firm’s Global and US Portfolio Construction Groups and now focus on ESG and sustainable investing in hedge fund and alternative beta strategies. Leon joined legacy Watson Wyatt in October 2005 after four and a half years as an investment consultant at Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow where he specialised in quantitative and hedge fund research. Prior to this Leon worked in South Africa for Investment Solutions, Alexander Forbes’s fund of funds arm. Leon graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg) in 1998 with a BSc in Mathematical Statistics. Leon is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (London) and has been active in producing papers for various working parties since 2002 as well as being involved in marking and setting actuarial exams since 2003.
