Joe was a practicing attorney for more than 35 years, working in both the private sector and in-house at insurance/reinsurance carriers. Subsequently, Joe began working in the start-up field and investing in companies. Joe is now a part-owner in several rental car franchises in south Florida. In addition, Joe is a Co-Founder and Board Chairman of an automobile leasing platform called CURBDRIVE.
Previously, Joe joined a medical/technology start up, Slingshot Health, Inc., as its Chief Legal Officer in January, 2017. Slingshot Health, Inc. was an electronic platform that allowed consumers and health care providers to establish professional relationships.
Prior to joining Slingshot Health, Inc., for nearly 20 years, Joe focused his practice in the areas of insurance and reinsurance handling a wide variety of matters, including a number of insurance and reinsurance – related transactions. Earlier, Joe practiced in the areas of complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy.
Joe's experience also includes the representation of the London Market and domestic insurance carriers on a variety of insurance and reinsurance transaction. In particular, Joe participated in the resolution of several reinsurance matters involving underlying asbestos, pollution, health hazard and workers compensation losses as well as complex transactions concerning reinsurers and the capital markets.
Joe has been lead counsel on the acquisition of a property and casualty insurance carrier as well as a domestic reinsurer. Joe also has advised clients on loss portfolio transfers and related transactions. Joe also counseled foreign and domestic insurers and reinsurers on a wide range of issues.
