As a math, physics, and technology nerd at heart with a passion for engineering innovation, climate science, and building meaningful, lifelong friendships with the people I work with (and that includes customers!!), I've been fortunate enough to shape a career that I absolutely love! For over 15 years I've been lucky enough to work on things that get me up in the morning, and inspire me everyday to connect with and help people, while tackling super complex and fun engineering & analytics challenges!!
So...What do I do exactly? Today, I work at Siemens as an Oil & Gas, and Utilities Solutions Consultant where I get to use the math, physics, and engineering skills I actually learned in school to map out and tackle some really interesting global problems that get pretty technical, really quickly! In addition to that, I get to put my strategy hat on and try to figure out how Siemens' software and hardware can be used in a productive way to address a wide range of digital and real world challenges that affect how pipelines, power grids, and the interconnected world of energy generation and distribution physically and digitally evolves over time in response to changes in climate, population, economic, regulatory, and social conditions.
One week I might be helping a utility figure out where to place Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in response to projected adoption of EV's in a given geographical region using advanced analytics techniques & software. Such projects will also have interconnected grid-wide implications in terms of upgrading other electricity distribution machinery, such as, transformers, in order to accommodate changing load as a function of charging stations hitting the grid, or the integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), such as, Solar & Wind Farms. All of which have to be considered when tackling complex engineering & analytics infrastructure modernization challenges.
In another week, I might be helping an oil and gas company improve how they're detecting, and remediating methane leaks using IIoT and advanced analytics technology.
Furthermore, as a Siemens Entrepreneur, I've Co-Founded a startup called Metrix, which aims to bring (for the tech geeks out there) the Industrial Metaverse to life through technology that can create real-time, risk based, closed loop physics informed representations and simulations of machines, & facility operations. By doing so, companies will be able to plan for tomorrow, today - improve operational & financial performance, reduce GHG footprint of machines and down-time, etc.
