Elliot has more than thirty years of high-technology experience building some of New England's most successful companies as investor, founder, and senior executive. Elliot is known for forming strong long term relationships with highly respected entrepreneurs working with them multiple times. Many of the companies that Elliot has been involved with have had first time CEO’s where he has become a trusted adviser. As a senior executive and investor, he is recognized for his expertise in strategy, business model optimization and strategic business development working with management and boards to optimize the value of their business and help create market leading companies that are strategically valued at time of exit. At Commonwealth Capital Elliot led investments in eight companies including CloudSwitch (acquired by Verizon),Vela Systems (acquired by Autodesk), and Echo Nest (acquired by Spotify) He currently serves on the boards of three exciting companies - Onshape, Acacia Communications and Seniorlink. Before joining Commonwealth, Elliot led investments in five companies including Newforma ( private company providing project information management (PIM) software for architecture, engineering, and construction firms) , Spaceclaim (acquired by Ansys), and Qvidian (private company providing cloud based sales execution solutions). In addition, Elliot has served on the board of Watchfire (acquired by IBM) and Epicon (acquired by Nortel). Before becoming a venture capitalist, Elliot spent over twenty years as an executive building four highly successful companies. He founded and led MyTeam, which merged with the Active Network. In addition he was SVP/CFO at SolidWorks, where he led the merger with Dassault Systems. As CFO of Atria Software. he led an IPO and a $1.8 bill merger with Pure Software. During the time that Elliot was CFO, Atria became the 2nd highest PE on wall street. Earlier, Elliot served as CFO of Epoch Systems, where he had senior finance and operational responsibilities and managed the company's merger with EMC.
