Prior to joining Motorola, he was chairman and CEO of Micromuse Inc. from 1999 to 2003.
Brown serves as chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and is also chair of Skills for Chicagoland’s Future. He is a member of the executive committee of the Business Roundtable. Additionally, Brown is a board member of the Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and The Chicago Club.
He earned a bachelor's degree in economics and an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Rutgers University, and also serves as chair of the university’s board of governors.
