Over the last 24 years I designed, implemented and led the risk management function at five of the hedge funds for which I have worked, including 3 start-ups. Practical risk management is a function of strength in technology, data and interpersonal communication, imbued with the spirit of innovation, all of which I have promoted in my various roles. I have supported programs for ongoing education and mentorship, because these are essential components of building a risk management culture, not only within the risk team, but also with the investment team and back office, senior management, and investor stakeholders. On the public side, I have often published and spoken on risk management for both academic and practitioner audiences, and I have served on the governing boards of both IAQF and PRMIA.less
