Population Decline And The Great Economic Reversal
9 years ago

The world population grew from 3 billion in 1960 to 5.3 billion in 1990 to 7.3 billion today, and is expected to exceed 8 billion within the next 10 years. Meanwhile, robots are expected to take over roughly 50% of all existing job categories within the next 10 to 15 years. What we should NOT be concerned about is population decline, because it is not happening and there are far too many of us already here. Where population decline is happening, it is less than 1% decline per year, and only in about 18 of the world's 200+ countries. Our oceans are dying due to our pollution, and fish stocks are steeply declining. The amount of arable land is in decline as more humans move onto farm and forested land. Fresh water is becoming an increasingly valuable commodity as population growth outpaces available supply. Deserts are expanding and glaciers are disappearing. What we need is a huge re-think of the way we go about living and eating so that our children can enjoy a decent quality of life.
