During good times governments must be cautious and conscientious regarding their growth and prosperity because a few bad decsions when things are flying high can down any economy! The US was foolish to go into Iraq for a lot of reasons! Firstly, it cost the country dearly in terms of diplomatic leverage around the world especially in a rising European Union. And also because it was extremely expensive not to mention the lives lost! China is also blowing it with their massive building projects that are basically unusable and worthless now, and Spain with its real estate bubble! There are too many idiots out there who want to make as much money as fast as possible in whatever way they can while government regulators just sit back and do nothing assuming that the economy will continue to grow indefinately!
