Veronika Dolar wrote: "It’s vital to note that Goldin’s research doesn’t attribute the gender pay gap to employer discrimination."  As an economist, she should also have mentioned that there is no reason to think that men and women should be represented proportionally in any given occupation.  At the same time, it is probably a good thing to encourage people to consider occupations in which their demographic has been under represented.
