Isam Laroui has been trading professionally since 1996, first at a couple of large Wall Street proprietary trading firms, and then independently (for the most part) since 2004. His preferred holding periods and trading time frames have fluctuated over the years from a few minutes, using tick, one-minute and five-minute charts to a few weeks, using the 30-minute and daily charts. Now, in his old age (for a trader, that is), he even contemplates yearly time frames. He trades stocks, ETFs, equity index futures and forex. A lifelong student of markets and trading strategies (systematic, algorithmic, discretionary, etc...), he has been a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and a member of the Market Technician Association (MTA) since 2006. Before becoming a trader, he worked as an insurance actuary after receiving his M.S. in Statistical Finance from NYU in 1993. He is also the founder of Lion Holding, a small Casablanca, Morocco - based firm looking for trading and investment opportunities on the "Bourse de Casablanca". After having been a Manhattanite for almost two decades, he's been more or less splitting his time between his beloved NYC and Morocco.less
