To live in a world, to visualize something materialize in front of eyes like you usually watched in sci-fi movies. What happens with the virtual world and real world unite together? Will you be able to comprehend the real objects from virtual reality?
Recently a tech start up based on Virtual Reality, called Oculus was acquired by Facebook and along with UK based two big ears which is based on audio technology that Facebook plans to integrate with Oculus headsets for more real and rich experience for its users. Facebook is already allowing users to share their 3D content in its oculus store.
It surely won’t be long at all before these technologies come together and we will be able to meet realistic representations of our friends and colleagues in whatever environment we feel like. And feelings play a big part – the holy grail of VR is total immersion, indistinguishable from the real world. That is a way off, but virtual worlds available today, such as V Time’s, are careful to include as much detail – what Price refers to as “finer brush strokes” – as possible. - iamwire
Facebook’s emphasis on real like experience and socialize did not get unread. So it can be expected that Facebook probably is devising a Virtual Reality environment when the user can interact with the virtual world as well as the avatars of friends and colleagues in Virtual Reality world. Possibilities are endless and so is imagination.
On the other hand, another technological giant HP has launched backpack VR computer, which can be used to move around when the user is interacting in the Virtual Reality. This Backpack VR PC is not only compatible but is power efficient and can give you VR experience up to 1 hour, after which the user can change the battery without actually shutting down the PC, thus not interrupting your VR world experience.
HP says it wants this backpack to be accessible, but it will almost certainly be more expensive than your average VR-ready desktop, which already runs around $1,000. Given how much hardware needs to be shrunk and rearranged, it may be more like a VR-ready laptop, which can cost two or three times as much. And it doesn't actually let you travel farther than a tethered system, since it's limited by the headset's tracking capabilities. It's just (theoretically) better-feeling and more convenient. - TheVerge
This backpack VR computer is specially made for giving the user great live experience in gaming. This PC is currently under progress, and HP is expected to start the demo in a month or two. The specifications of this system contains new Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, up to 32GB of memory and a graphic card whose specifications are unknown. The PC is designed so well that it is not going to exceed 10 pounds for the user.
Not only HP, Facebook many other tech companies such as Microsoft, Google etc. have shown their interest in the world of Virtual Reality. They have realized the potential of this technology and the impact it will have in the future. The Virtual Reality is big and inviting for endless implementations and achievements for the companies.
Fascinating. I've been very excited to follow the growing VR trend.
