Power Corrupts, Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely

The Democrats have controlled the levers of power ever since I arrived on Capitol Hill in early 1969, more than fifty-five years ago—longer than most readers of this article have been alive.[2]  Their control began with the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was our longest-serving President, and who was the only President to serve more than two terms in office.[3]

One does not relinquish power easily, which is why they are fighting “tooth and nail” to stay in control.  No American should be the least bit surprised that they will do anything and everything to retain their power.[4]  And it extends to all branches of our federal, state and local governments, and our media.  It is plenary; and no American should be under any illusions that it is being directed like a laser at Donald Trump, to destroy him.[5]

If he is elected—or reelected—in November, at most he will have two years to change the trajectory of our great nation, from that of the Biden/Harris/Democrat-controlled presidency.  Constitutionally he cannot run for a third term in office; and the scramble to succeed him will begin in 2026.  Thus, his choice of a running mate is critical: someone whom he trusts completely, and who will enhance his legacy and cement his policies.[6]

Is it an impossible, humongous, herculean task for any human being?  Of course it is, but vast numbers of Americans—of all colors and origins, and ethnic and religious persuasions—are hoping and praying that he can do it.  Otherwise, many foresee a decline of the United States’ place in history, or far far worse.[7]  No one should ever forget or underestimate that our enemies are playing for keeps; and yes, they are “chess masters” who have consolidated power in their own countries.[8]
