Today, Donald Trump appeared in Washington, D.C. before a biased judge who should recuse herself, in the latest efforts of the Democrats to derail his reelection bid next year. And I encountered a neighbor who was watering a sick friend's garden, and who angrily said he wasn't going to talk with me anymore. He made verbally-abusive and threatening comments; and my guess is that he exercised great restraint in not turning the hose on me, or worse.
More than two years ago, Susan Dohrman wrote an article here, entitled "The Importance Of Maintaining Civility."[2]. Since then, the fissures in our body politic have grown wider—almost daily—approximating the divide created by our Civil War and the tragic Vietnam War. More than four years ago, I met a college classmate's wife for the first time at a reunion; and all was going well until I simply mentioned Trump’s name. Then, all of a sudden, the niceties vanished like they did today. She didn't threaten me, but if looks could kill . . .
Today was different though. The neighbor described the bodily harm that he would like to inflict. And any mention of Joe Biden's criminality fell on deaf ears. Years ago, Trump had used our bankruptcy laws to his benefit and that of his businesses; and the neighbor took it personally, and has hated Trump ever since. Whatever Joe and Hunter Biden had done to enrich themselves never "darkened" his thinking. He was very angry; and it's the sign of the times.
When the Twin Towers in New York City were destroyed on 9/11, and so many Americans lost their lives, the country came together and the patriotism was immense. Clearly, China’s Xi Jinping and Russia's Vladimir Putin are salivating over the divisions in this country. It's as if they are conquering us without a shot being fired. Ronald Reagan did that to the former Soviet Union—which fell "disgracefully"—something that Putin has never forgotten in his war against Ukraine.

Clearly, the comments here underscore how fractured America is today.
True but only because Trump isn't afraid to say it like it is - that some Americans are better/more important than others. The rest should go back to China, Mexico and wherever else they came from.
So much for all are created equal.
Putin is behind the fractured country. Well him and Trump. Russia was caught red handed pumping hundreds of millions into Facebook ads that had the sole purpose of turning Americans against each other, and doing things like organzing a BLM protest and a counter protest hoping they would turn violent. Putin's pet Trump only made things worse.
You are all wrong. Trump was a great leader and will be again. We'll make sure he wins the election and that he never steps foot in prison. Even if we have to burn the American flag, the Constution, our instututions, and any one who stands in our way. The world needs more brave leaders like Trump, Putin and Hitler. These are the heroes who say and do what needs to be done. Everyone else are either fools or are too afraid to admit the Truth.
If Trump had been president during 9/11, the country wouldn't have come together. Just like he did with the "KungFlu" or "China Virus" to turn everyone's hate against Innocent Asian Americans, he'd blame leftists and the "towel heads" and then sit back and watch while Americans turned against each other.
It's a very common tactic among desopts and dictators to keep their people so busy fighitng with each other, they don't notice the crimes of their own leader. Trump excels at this. I voted for Trump twice but I will not be voting for him again. It's time you left the dark side and opened your eyes. Vote for someone else in the GOP instead.
Well said, and I agree completey. In the polls and to left leaning friends I say I'm going to vote Trump just to annoy them and to stick it to Biden, but I know Trump can't win. And I've come to realize he doens't care about America, he only cares about staying out of prison. He's neither a good person, nor a good leader. I'm throwing my support behind DeSantis.
If everyone but you a few other nut jobs realize that Trump is a criminal, maybe you are the problem and not everyone else.
