Each of us—throughout the world—has experienced injustices in our respective legal systems. Some whom we know, or know about, have died as a result of such atrocities; and yes, they are atrocities, just as much as if someone slit our throats, quite literally.

A British television drama, airing on PBS, is capturing this. Variety has summarized the series as follows:

“[O]ver a 15-year period, at least 3,500 subpostmasters were falsely accused by the Post Office for financial losses that never actually happened. Around 700 people were prosecuted and more than 200 were sent to prison. And four subpostmasters took their own lives.”[2]

I have written about injustices in the American legal system, with which I am personally familiar.[3] And yes, they came after me, just as they came after the late U.S. Senator from Alaska, Ted Stevens, whom I knew. Both of us were vindicated[4]; and everyone who was involved in these travesties at the Department of Justice should have been indicted, arrested and imprisoned, but they weren’t.[5]

Like those described in the British drama, the entire process takes an enormous toll. Also, did they try to kill Senator Stevens? Sound farfetched? Maybe. But that’s what they do.[6]
