Dubai Police Made An Order On Tesla Cybertruck

Date: Tuesday, December 10, 2019 3:11 PM EDT

When Elon Musk took to the stage to introduce Tesla’s Cybertruck, on the 21st of November, 2019, the Internet was sent into a meme-creating frenzy. People started comparing the Cybertruck to Flats the Flounder, and to a doorstep, among other things. While the Cybertruck is not as glamorous as the Bentley Continental GT, it does pack an eerie resemblance to the class DMC DeLorean, made famous by the role it played in the Back to the Future movie series. Like the DeLorean, the Cybertruck has hard edges of stainless steel, and an angular design to top it.

Unlike the DeLorean though. The Cybertruck boasts of stellar performance to back up its unique styling. In fact, only 9,000 DMC DeLorean’s were ever made, before its production was halted in 1983. The Cybertruck, on the other hand, has already received 250.000 pre-orders – An outstanding number. Among the many people looking to get their hands on the Tesla Cybertruck, Dubai Police posted an interesting tweet on their official Twitter handle – A Tesla Cybertruck in the official livery of the Dubai Police Force.

The Tesla Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck is an all-electric, purpose pickup truck, which comes with magnificent off-road capability, and a maximum range of over 800 kilometres. The Tesla Cybertruck comes in three variants – At a starting price of $39,900, a single motor RWD version, which comes with a range of over 402 kilometres, a dual-motor AWD version, which comes with a range of over 482 kilometres, and its top model, - A tri-motor AWD version, which comes with a range of over 800 kilometres.  Tesla’s pickup truck will offer a maximum towing capacity of an outstanding 6,350 kilograms, and an acceleration of 0-100 kilometres in just about 3 seconds – Not bad for a pickup truck, right?

Tesla’s Cybertruck will compete with the best-selling pickup trucks in the United States automobile market, including variants from Ford and RAM. The Cybertruck is made up of an ultra-hard, 30x cold-rolled variant of stainless steel, and can withstand knocks from a sledgehammer. The Cybertruck is bulletproof, to say the least. While Elon Musk claims that the Cybertruck’s armoured glass windows are shatterproof, its windows failed to withstand the test presented, when hit with a solid metal ball. Nevertheless, Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla will go on to reinforce the armoured glass of the Cybertruck, before the pickup truck goes on sale.  Having all these incredible stats about the Elon Musk’s Cybertruck, there are still portals that argue that the Cybertruck is built for a dystopian future, one of such portal is TrustedBrokerz that with it’s updated article about Bitcoin Evolution argues that such Cybertrucks have no real-use in today’s world, or at least not yet.

Since the Cybertruck’s reveal, it has become one of the most talked about automotive products in the recent history of the industry. Its futuristic design is eye-catching, and is a far cry from the more conventional designs the pickup truck segment of the industry comes with. The photo posted by the Dubai Police Force shows a modified version of the Cybertruck, complete with the official livery of the Force.

Dubai Police

The Dubai Police Force is known for owning outlandish supercars, from the Bugatti Veyron, to the Aston Martin One-77, the BMW i8, the Ferrari LaFerrari, and the Lamborghini Aventador, among others – You cannot get past the Dubai Police Force unless you own a faster supercar! It is of no surprise that the Dubai Police will add Tesla’s Cybertruck to their superstar fleet, the Cybertruck being their first ever pickup truck; and that too an electric one.

The order placed by the Dubai Police Force, is one of the 250,000 pre-orders made on the Cybertruck. To pre-order the Cybertruck, a refundable deposit of $100 is required, to lock your order. While the number of conversions from pre-orders to orders is uncertain, the Dubai Police Force has certainly caught the eye. Considering their lavish spending spree on supercars, the Police Force is expected to add to their kitty the Cybertruck’s most expensive variant, starting at $69,900. Considering the fact that the Cybertruck is bulletproof, it is of no wonder at all, that the Dubai Police Force are keen on getting their hands on the pickup truck.

According to Arabian Business, Major General Abudullah Khalifa Al Marri has said that the Cybertruck will be used to help boost the presence of the police in popular tourist hotspots, such as the Burj Khalifa, La Mer, Jumeirah Beach Residence, and the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. While the release date of the Cybertruck is some time away (over a year, according to Elon Musk), a Cybertruck has already been spotted on United States roads. Unfortunately, Tesla’s Cybertruck has not found its presence on the roads of Dubai yet.

Conclusion

While the Cybertruck does not look like a conventional car, its features certainly pack a punch. Considering its resistance to force and firearms, it is of no wonder that The Dubai Police Force is eager on adding the Cybertruck to its famed line of supercars, and patrol fleet. We do not know how many orders the Dubai Police Force has made, but expect to see the most lavish of the Cybertruck’s models to be patrolling the roads of Dubai, in time to come. If the Dubai Police Force’s tweet is anything to go by, we are in for a treat, and criminals – Problems.
