When was the last time you kept a schedule or went for a walk? These things may seem trivial right now, but they are crucial to maintaining your mental health during these trying times. If you are still wearing your pajamas, it’s time to go change, drink a glass of water, and start planning your new routine in quarantine.
Maintaining a routine gives your brain a greater sense of certainty. If everything is an unknown, stress starts to take over. If you can’t make a decision about what comes next, stress takes over. Knowing what your day will look like can ease your stress burden in the long run.
Get up at the same time every day, go to bed at the same time every day, and make sure you are getting enough sleep. Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet. Go for a walk every day. Call people on the phone to maintain human connections.
