By Timothy D. Naegele[1]
I grew up in Los Angeles and know it well. Lots of Angelenos have never been to downtown LA, except perhaps to watch a sporting event. Its freeway logjams are notorious and something to behold. They must be scary beyond belief to the uninitiated—or those who hail from less-trafficked parts of the world.
Tragically, Los Angeles has been ravaged by fires; and the full extent of the human and property losses is still unknown. A devastating earthquake is long overdue, equaling or surpassing the damage done during the Northridge Quake.[2]
I know official Washington, D.C. too, having spent 21 years nonstop there. Both cities "devour" young women; and I constantly recommend against living and working there because of that fact. They are "sin cities" USA, albeit the sexual overtures may be a wee bit more subtle than in Las Vegas.[3]
If anyone expects to find saints in either city, the search may be frustrating, exhausting and unproductive. Yes, God is here, there and everywhere.[4] But God gave each of us free will, to pursue paths of our choosing. And only God is perfect.
There are too many shining examples of how history is cleansed to suit the "magnificent." Harvey Weinstein, Roman Polanski—who is a fugitive from American justice—Bill Cosby and countless others have defiled women in Tinseltown.
Fly across the country, and perhaps there are no better examples than the Kennedys: Jack, Bobby and Teddy. The first two defiled women galore, with the shining example of course being Marilyn Monroe, who reportedly spent the last moments of her tragic life with them—yes, at her home in Los Angeles.[5]
But an even better example may be Mary Jo Kopechne, who died in Massachusetts because of Ted Kennedy. Many of his biographies and accolades have been sanitized and don't even mention her. It is as if her presence has been erased from history.[6] That's what happens in Sodom and Gomorrah.
