A second assassin emerged with respect to Donald Trump[2]. Yet, some on the Left believe that "three times is a charm," or words to that effect.[3] Why would any American want to run for the highest offices in our land, and subject oneself or one's family to horrendous life-ending risks?[4]

Many of us began as Democrats, but we will never vote for one again. They are a party of sickos, who suffer from what has been accurately described as "Trump derangement syndrome," or TDS. They are risking a full-blown, bloody civil war, at least as vicious as the last one that ended 159 years ago.

I first encountered TDS when I met a college classmate's spouse at a small reception. She was very nice until I merely mentioned Trump’s name. Then, it was as if a "veil of darkness" fell over our discussions; and I remember it to this day.

Years before, I had just left my work in the U.S. Senate to join a law firm in Washington, D.C.[5], when I attended Joe Biden's first day there—in a Senate committee room. His wife Neilia and their one-year-old daughter Naomi had been killed in a tragic auto accident one month before[6], and I had nothing but sympathy for him.

Fast forward to today, and I have never wished him harm, or harm to Kamala Harris. But this cannot be said of those Americans who are plagued by TDS. It is real, not a figment of one's imagination; and the world is seeing it on full display. No one should forget the tragic assassination of Shinzo Abe in Japan, a scant two years ago.[7]

For the good of the nation—and our families' futures, if nothing else—the desire to see Trump dead needs to end now. Query whether it will? The Left is obsessed, just as John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators were determined to kill Abraham Lincoln and his cabinet members, regardless of the consequences.

Is there hope? Short of some 9/11-like calamity in which our nation is attacked[8], is there a way for Americans to come together and resolve their differences and truly shine, as a beacon of hope to the world? Yes, with God, all is possible. America is a rich tapestry of life.[9]
