By Timothy D. Naegele[1]
As I have written before, God saved me at least twice from almost certain death.[2] Yesterday, God saved me again.
I was staying on the ground floor of a motel where I had stayed before in the years past. All of a sudden, I heard a noise outside of my room, and opened the drapes to see a man at the front right door of a car that was parked there. The owner had backed into the spot; and the car's rear end was probably 10 feet or so from my door.
I thought he was entering the car, but it turns out he held a small gun[3], which he fired through the window at the woman inside. It's a miracle that she wasn't killed. Then, he saw me, and I saw him with the gun in his hand. I closed the drapes; and he came and banged on my door. He might have shot at me too, but he didn't.
I called the police and told them what had happened; and the female dispatcher was aware of the situation. Soon, a "swat team" arrived with an armored vehicle, and lots of heavily-armed officers. He had gone upstairs, to the room above me, I believe.
They "bargained" with him; and finally, he came down the stairs, with his hands over his head. How close I came to being shot and killed, I will never know. But I do know one thing without a doubt: God saved me once again!
