May 2017 Cash Deficit: $107B
The May 2017 Cash Deficit came in at $107B. That may not look great YOY, but the big expense spike was timing related, and expected.
April 2017 Cash Surplus: $206B
Looking at the month, revenues were solid and timing issues compared to last year brought down expenses as expected, but don’t worry, we’ll be back to even 5/1. Regardless…A $206B surplus isn’t too shabby, so let’s enjoy it for just a moment.

March 2017 Deficit Preview
The story so far is that refunds are up as expected, hurting net revenues, while corporate tax deposits are down 52% to just $18B compared to $38B last year.
Here We Go Again (Debt Limit 2017)
Without a lot of fanfare, the debt limit was reinstated on 3/15/2017 at $19.809T and Treasury instituted the infamous “Extraordinary Measures” (EM) to circumvent the law and give our politicians more time to make fools of themselves.
US Cash Deficit February 2017
The US Cash Deficit for February 2017 came in at $219B wiping out January’s small surplus and bringing the YTD cash deficit through 2 months to $186B.
US Cash Surplus January 2017
The US Cash Surplus for January 2017 came in at $32B as strong revenues were offset by a large increase in spending driven primarily by timing.
US 2016 Cash Deficit
I’m posting this way late, but the 2016 cash deficit came in at $697B breaking a 6 year streak of improving deficits and topping 2015’s deficit of $539B.

Revenues are down year over year and deficit up for the first time since 2009.

US Cash Deficit - October 2016
Revenues were up 4% climbing $9B to $245B compared to last October’s $236B. That’s fairly impressive especially on the back of withheld taxes being up 8%, all on one less business day than last October.
US Daily Cash Deficit September 2016
That’s a $5B deficit compared to last year’s $62B surplus. It’s not good, but it’s also not quite as bad as it looks.
US Cash Deficit August 2016
The US Cash Deficit for August 2016 came in at $151B bringing the 2016 cash deficit through 8 months to $476B.
July 2016 Cash Deficit
The US Cash Deficit for July 2016 came in at $101B for July, bringing the 2016 deficit through 7 months to $331B.
June 2016 Surplus Recap
For the month, we ran a surplus, which is great but generally expected in June as quarter end revenues flow in, and have given us June surpluses for 4 years straight.
US Cash Surplus June 2016
The US cash surplus for June 2016 came in at $19B compared to a $44B surplus in 2015 due to a decline in revenues and an increase in outlays.
