The Real World

Greetings from London where we will be getting a refrigerator on Friday. Luckily the weather is so cold that we are barely in need of a fridge. I am now in a position to again post blogs and today we have a lulu.

$610 million in cryptocurrencies was nabbed yesterday by Poly Network, a blockchain, from websites like ethereum, binance, and USDC, according to a note on Twitter today. The proceeds were the largest ever from a hack beating the 2018 Tokyo heist. And it is possible that the job was done to achieve standing for smarts rather than to actually steal the money. Already $

Gov. Cuomo has resigned but the Queen's sex-fiend son Edward still seems to have a job, at least until the groomer of the teenaged girls, Ms. Maxwell, faces trial.

More from London about the real world:

The rise of the delta has caused markets to drop back after the rises earlier although inflation still remains within a point or two of forecasts at 5.3-5.4% annualized. Britain, where the currency is very strong now, is more at risk than the US if the price of refrigerators is anything to go on. The one which works with the kitchen in our apartment has increased by 28% from what a neighbour paid 2 1/2 years ago!

*We have an earnings report from CAE, a portfolio stock that earned 15 cents this Q2 vs a loss a year ago of 11 cents/sh. I cannot access the full report from my brokerage account.

*German ute Eon.se, EONGY, raised estimates for the full year to eps of 67 cents, up 4.6% from prior year and revenues up 14% to euros 14.64 bn. Source is Leo Birnbaum, the CEO.

*Green fund Atlantica Yield is expected now to report Q3 eps of minus 16 cents to plus 57 cents. AY is British but invests in US bucks. It is only covered by 2 analysts here.

*Nutrien of Canada is now expected to earn 989 cents/sh in Q3, up 149 cents from prior estimate. It makes fertilizer. NTR.

*Plug Power now is expected to lost twice as much as forecast in the Sept quarter, 12 cents. PLUG. Also down is Energy Fuels, UUUU, down 2.43%. It will extract rare earths from uranium fuel which will cut dependence on China.

*Geothermal stock Ormat is up 0.6%. ORA

*Astra Zeneca AZN and Daiichireported significant beats with thier new antibody drug conjugate treatment of recurrent Her-2 neu breast cancer drug in early trials. It beats the current treatment of tratuzumab or taxane in this hard cancer.

*Drug majors are up on fear of another round of delta in places like China and Israeli where populations are already vaccinated. This boosted GSK 1.2%, TEVA 13% to $10.20, Roche etc. .66%, NVS .31%.

*Zymeworks, however, fell 1.6%. ZYME.

*The rise in shares of Nintendo by 4.5% today seems to be based on an error. A new game is in development called dogemon, an iOS app that sounds like Pokemon which is from NTDOY, for winning doge coins with your games, if it ever goes live. However, Nintendo is not the developer of this adult financial app despite the near name. Its stock is up 4.5% today in Tokyo. The new game is being tested in the Philippines, Turkey, India, and Brazil.

*Banco Santander SAN is trading up 0.51% in Spain today. Also rising are our Japanese financial stocks Mitsubishi, MSBHF, and Sumitomo Mitsui, SMFG, both up more than 2.4%. This means inflation is rising outside Japan.

Finally getting to read these after a long power outage due to a brutal storm on the eleventh. Long power outages, 99 hours, and windbroken trees damaged all over. Total disruption of normal life.

And I certainly hope that THESE do not become normal.
