Sensex Today Ends 467 Points Lower; Nifty Below 25,750
After opening the day lower, the benchmark indices continued their downward momentum, ended the session in the red.
Indian equity market indices Senex and Nifty ended the week's last trading session in negative territory, led by losses across counters.
At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed lower by 467 points (down 0.5%)
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 156 points lower (down 0.6%).
Bharat Elec, TCS, and ITC are among the top gainers today.
NTPC, Kotak Mahindra, and ICICI Bank, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.
The GIFT Nifty was trading at 25,900, lower by 122 points at the time of writing.
The BSE MidCap index ended 0.5% lower, and the BSE SmallCap index ended 0.4% lower.
Sectoral indices are trading positively, mixed with stocks in the oil & gas and realty sectors witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks in the media sector and telecommunications sector witnessed selling pressure.
The rupee is trading at Rs 87.6 against the US$.
Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.2% higher at Rs 121,750 per 10 grams.
Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 0.1% higher at Rs 148,850 per 1 kg.
 
Pidilite Industries Q2 Results
In the news from chemical sector, shares of Pidilite Industries came into after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.
According to the company, its second-quarter consolidated revenue from operations was Rs 35.5 billion (bn) up from Rs 32.2 bn in the same period last year.
Total expenses for the reviewed quarter were Rs 28.1 bn, up from Rs 25.6 bn in the same period last year.
EBITDA was marginally less than the projected ?853 crore, rising 10.5% year over year to Rs 8.5 bn.
Pidilite Industries' Managing Director, Sudhanshu Vats, stated that the company recorded strong double-digit growth and stable margins despite challenging market conditions.
He expressed optimism about the coming months, expecting improvements in the domestic economy supported by favourable monsoons, the positive impact of GST 2.0, and rising construction activity driven by low interest rates and better liquidity.
The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 5.4 bn.
 
BofA Securities Buys Reliance Industries Shares
Moing on to the news from industry sector, shares of Reliance Industries came into focus after BofA Securities bought 2.95 lakh shares of the oil-to-telecom conglomerate for nearly Rs 0.4 bn through an open market transaction.
According to block deal data on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), BofA Securities purchased 2,95,600 shares of Reliance Industries through its affiliate BofA Securities Europe SA.
One of Bank of America Corporation's subsidiaries is BofA Securities Europe SA.
The average price per unit was Rs 1,475.50, and the transaction was valued at approximately Rs 0.4 bn.
At the same time, Kadensa Capital, an asset management company based in Hong Kong, sold an equivalent quantity of shares at the same price through the Kadensa Master Fund.
 

Bharat Electronics Q2 Results
Moving on the news from defense sector, shares of Bharat Electronics came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.
The company's revenue from operations rose 26% to Rs 57.6 bn in July-September period from Rs 45.8 bn a year earlier.
EBITDA also known as operating profit advanced 22% to Rs 16.9 bn but its operating profit margin contracted by 90 basis points to 29.41%.
The company's total order book at the end of September quarter came in at Rs 744.5 bn.
Bharat Electronics reported a net profit of Rs 12.8 bn in the second quarter of current financial year, marking an increase of 18% from Rs 10.9 bn in the same period last year.
