Sensex Today Trades Lower; Vodafone Idea Down 6%

Asian markets traded mixed on Thursday, after US Fed Chair Jerome Powell indicated that an interest rate cut in December was far from a foregone conclusion.

US stock market ended mixed on Wednesday after the US Federal Reserve cut interest rate, but Fed Chair Jerome Powell said that another rate cut in December is far from assured.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 426 points lower, and the NSE Nifty is trading 127 points lower.

Larsen, Maruti Suzuki are among the top gainers today.

Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, and Infosys, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.2% lower, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 0.1% lower.

Sectoral indices are negative today, with stocks in the telecommunication sector and media sector witnessing selling pressure.

The rupee is trading at Rs 87.6 against the US dollar.
 

Wipro and HanesBrands Digital Transformation Partnership

Shares of Wipro came into focus after it has signed a multi-year strategic agreement with HanesBrands Inc to transform the apparel firm's IT infrastructure and cybersecurity operations with an AI-first approach.

According to a regulatory filing, Wipro will use its WINGS Operations AI platform, which is a component of the Wipro Intelligence suite of AI-driven platforms and solutions, to streamline operations, improve regulatory compliance, and improve the IT experience for HanesBrands' suppliers, employees, and customers.

Additionally, Wipro will enhance HanesBrands' security framework by introducing automated security workflows to speed up incident resolution and AI-driven predictive and preventive operations.

By increasing operational stability, it will also help HanesBrands keep up with regulations and minimise business interruptions.

The Wipro Innovation Network, which includes Innovation Labs, AI-native businesses, Wipro Ventures, Academia, and technology partners, will also be accessible to HanesBrands as part of the partnership.
 

RailTel Q2 Results

Shares of RailTel Corporation of India Ltd came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.

Its revenue for the second quarter increased 12.8% to Rs 9.5 billion (bn) from Rs 8.4 bn last year. Despite being a low margin business, the project work services division led growth during the quarter.

In the second quarter of the previous fiscal year, RailTel's EBITDA climbed 19.4% to Rs 1.5 bn from Rs 1.2 bn.

Compared to the same period last year, its EBITDA margin increased to 16.2% from 15.3%. Due to unfavourable working capital requirements, the company's operating cash flow was negative at the end of the September quarter.

The telecom services company's revenue increased by 9% to Rs 3.6 bn from the previous year.

The Project Work Services business saw revenue growth of 16% and EBIT growth of 35% year-on-year. Margins also expanded to 3.9% from 3.4% last year.

The company reported a 4.7% increase in its second quarter net profit to Rs 0.76 bn from Rs 0.73 bn in the previous year.

BHEL Q2 Results

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.

Consolidated revenue from operations rose to Rs 75.1 bn.

For the quarter that ended on 30 September 2025, it reported excellent performance in both of its major business segments.

Revenue from the power segment increased significantly to Rs 56.7 bn, a strong 45.6% increase from Rs 38.9 bn in the June 2025 quarter.

Similarly, the Industry segment reported revenue of Rs 18.3 bn, which was 18% higher than Rs 15.5 bn in the same quarter last year.

Consequently, total segment revenue from operations increased to Rs 75.1 bn in Q2FY26, representing a 14% year-over-year increase from Rs 65.8 bn in Q2FY25.

Operating-level EBITDA for the company was Rs 5.8 bn, up 111% from Rs 2.7 bn in the same quarter last year. Compared to the same quarter of the prior fiscal year, when margins expanded by 4.2%, they expanded by 7.7%.

The company made a profit of Rs 3.7 bn. This was mainly due to strong project execution and a rebound in the power equipment business.
