Long-Term Shareholder Returns: Evidence From 64,000 Global Stocks

Over 64,000 common stocks from throughout the world were studied by Hendrik Bessembinder during the years from January 1990 through December 2020. A few conclusions:

In terms of compound returns across the entire sample, one-month U.S. Treasury bills outperform 55.2% of U.S. equities and 57.4% of non-U.S. stocks.

From 1990 to December 2020, the top 2.4% of companies generated a net $US 75.7 trillion in wealth on the global stock market.
