Founded on June 26, 1970, and headquartered in Birmingham, AL, Regions Financial Corp. (RF) is a bank holding company that provides consumer and commercial banking, wealth management, and mortgage products and services to individuals, businesses, governmental institutions, and non-profit entities

It operates through the four segments: (1) Corporate Bank, (2) Consumer Bank, (3) Wealth Management, and (4) Other.

Three key data points gauge RF or any dividend-paying entity, namely:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

RF Price

Region’s share price was up about 3% last year, from $23.56 to $24.26 per Tuesday’s market price.

Twenty-four analysts cover the stock.

The median of 24 analyst one-year price targets was $28.45.

That $4.19 annual increase, of course, could also stay flat, or decline, per market action.

RF Dividends

RF has paid annually increasing quarterly dividends since February 1991.

The current forward-looking annual dividend of $1.08 yields 4.45% as of Tuesday’s share price.

RF Returns

Putting it all together, a $5.27 estimated gross gain per share shows up when adding RF’s annual $1.08 dividend to the analyst-estimated $4.19 annual price gain.

A little under $1000 invested at Monday’s $24.26 share price would buy 41.22 shares which, multiply the $5.27 estimated gross gain to $217.23 for the coming year.

About 20.5% of that $217 gain comes from the annual $44.50 dividend generated from your $1,000 investment.

Furthermore, the $44.50 annual dividend income from $1,000 invested is about 1.83 times greater than the recent $24.26 single-share price.

(A dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a stock that pays an annual dividend from $1000 invested that is greater than the cost of a single share.)

1.83 is more than 1.

Therefore, you could choose to pounce on Regions Financial Corp with its dividend payout of about 1.83 times the single share price.

The exact track of RF’s future share price and dividends will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
