Sensex Today Ends 450 Points Higher; Nifty Above 26,000

Although the benchmark indices opened higher, they traded positively throughout the session and ultimately closed green.

Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, extended gains for a second straight session on Friday, lifted by a global rally and strong buying in metal stocks.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 450 points (up 0.5%).

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 148points higher (up 0.5%).

Tata Steel, Eternal, Aand dani Ports are among the top gainers today.

HUL, Sun Pharma, and ITC, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at  26,135 higher 109 points higher at the time of writing.

The BSE MidCap index ended 1.1 higher, and the BSE SmallCap index ended 0.6% higher.

Barring the FMCG sector, all other sectoral indices are trading positively today, with stocks in the metal sector and realty sector witnessing buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 89.9 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 1.4% higher at Rs 134,347 per gram.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 0.2% higher at Rs 199,355 per 1 kg.
 

Shakti Pumps India Soars After Big Order

In the news from engineering sector, shares of Shakti Pumps India came into focus on Friday after it won an order worth Rs 0.23 billion (bn) from the state of Jharkhand for 1,200 solar water pumping systems.

Shakti Pumps has secured its second order from Jharkhand, with the Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency awarding a contract for 1,200 solar water pumping systems under Component B of the PM-KUSUM scheme. The order is worth around Rs 0.23 bn including GST and will be installed at multiple locations across the state.

Earlier, the company also received a Letter of Empanelment from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. to supply and install 16,025 off-grid DC solar water pumping systems under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana/PM-KUSUM B scheme.

Shakti Pumps manufactures solar pumps, energy-efficient stainless-steel submersible pumps, pressure booster pumps, pump motors, and more. It is the only company in India that produces a complete range of solar pump components in-house, including Variable Frequency Drives, structures, motors, inverters, and other equipment needed for solar pump installations.

 

Vedanta Wins Genjana Nickel Block Bid

Shares of Vedanta surged 2% after it emerged as the successful bidder for the Genjana nickel, chromium and PGE block under the Critical Mineral Auctions - Tranche III.

Vedanta said this win will strengthen its portfolio of critical minerals, adding to its existing resources. The stock also got a boost after Vedanta group Chairman Anil Agarwal announced plans to invest Rs 1,000 bn in Rajasthan to double production across zinc, lead, silver, oil & gas, and renewable energy.

Dynacons Systems Soars After J&K Order

Shares of Dynacons Systems came into focus after the company secured a Rs 0.75 bn Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) project from Jammu & Kashmir Bank.

The contract, valid for five years, aims to accelerate the bank's digital transformation and improve customer experience.

Under the project, Dynacons will deploy 9,851 advanced desktops across 1,019 branches nationwide on an Opex-based DaaS model. The solution covers the entire device lifecycle, including procurement, configuration, support, security updates, and e-waste management.

This initiative will modernize the bank's IT ecosystem, enable scalability for evolving business needs, support remote and hybrid work environments, and align with Jammu & Kashmir Bank's vision for secure, efficient, and future-ready operations.
 

Lloyds Engineering Rises After Defence Unit

Shares of Lloyds Engineering Works surged after the company announced that it would establish a new defence unit, Lloyds Advanced Defence Systems.

The newly incorporated unit will focus on manufacturing and supplying defence equipment such as weapons, ammunition, drones, radars, sensors, and communication systems across land, air, sea, space, and cyber domains.

It will also work on developing advanced technologies like AI, robotics, machine learning, quantum tech, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems for defence and national security.

The company plans to form partnerships and joint ventures with domestic and international firms and government agencies for technology development and intellectual property transfer.

Additionally, it will provide consultancy and training on defence systems, including simulation, testing, maintenance, repair, and modernization, as well as import, export, and lease defence materials, components, and machinery.
