Tata Power on Thursday announced that it has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd for the acquisition of Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established for a major transmission project.
According to Tata Power's regulatory filing, the SPV will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model and will provide transmission services for 35 years from the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD), which is set 24 months after the SPV is transferred to Tata Power.
The project involves constructing approximately 115 km of 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines between Jejuri and Hinjewadi, along with the extension of 400 kV GIS line bays at substations at both ends. The SCOD remains 24 months from the effective SPV transfer date.
Under the awarded contract, Tata Power will be entitled to annual transmission charges of Rs 1.5 bn over the 35-year agreement period. The scope includes the full construction and commissioning of the transmission infrastructure.
Adani Power Targets Hydro, Thermal Projects Overseas
Adani Power is planning to build new thermal and hydro power projects in several South Asian countries. This move comes after the company recently expanded into nuclear and international hydropower projects.
The company has signed an MoU to add 500 MW of hydropower in Bhutan through a 50:50 joint venture with Druk Green Power (DGPC), owned by the Bhutan government. This Wangchhu project is the first to be developed under a larger agreement signed in May 2025 to jointly develop 5,000 MW of hydropower in Bhutan. Both sides are also discussing more projects under this partnership.
Adani Power also aims to add 24 GW of thermal power capacity by FY32, which would make up about 30% of India's planned thermal capacity additions. With this expansion, the company plans to increase its total installed capacity to 41.87 GW by FY32, up from 18.15 GW today. To achieve this, it has set aside Rs 2 lakh crore in capital investment.
Kansai Nerolac Sells Majority Stake in Sri Lanka
Kansai Nerolac Paints has decided to completely exit its business in Sri Lanka by selling its entire 60% stake in Kansai Paints Lanka (Private) Limited to Atire (Private) Limited, a Sri Lankan company.
The board approved the sale on 11 December 2025. The company said it will meet all required SEBI regulations and will provide detailed disclosures to the stock exchanges once the sale agreement is signed.
Since the Sri Lankan unit is not considered a major subsidiary, the sale will not significantly impact the company's overall structure, but it will officially end Kansai Nerolac's presence in the Sri Lankan market.
