Nifty Above 24,700; Sensex Today Trades Higher
Asian markets are trading higher as investors evaluate the Shanghai Cooperation Organization leaders' meeting in Tianjin, though lingering tariff concerns dampened sentiment.
The US stock market remained closed on Monday for trading on account of Labor Day public holiday.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 287 points higher, and the NSE Nifty is trading 91 points higher.
Reliance Industries, Eternal, and NTPC are among the top gainers today.
M&M, Infosys, and Asian Paints, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.
The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.3% higher, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 0.6% higher.
Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in the energy sector and realty sector witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks in the IT sector and the auto sector are witnessing selling pressure.
The rupee is trading at Rs 87.3 against the US dollar.
Hyundai Motors India Sales Down in August
In August, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. sold 60,501 units, a 4.23% decrease from the same month the previous year.
In the same month last year, the company sold 63,175 units.
According to a statement from Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), August sales comprised 16,500 units exported, and 44,001 units sold domestically.
Last year, 13,650 units were exported, and 49,525 units were sold domestically in the same month.
The company's objective, according to HMIL Wholetime Director and Chief Operating Officer, is to make India a strategic manufacturing base for developing nations and to grow into Hyundai's biggest export hub outside of South Korea.
Month after month, this goal is gaining significant momentum. In August 2025, our exports increased by a remarkable 21% year over year, he said.
Coal India Boost Production in August
Maharatna PSU Coal India Limited (CIL) announced that its August 2025 coal production had increased 9.4% year-over-year to 50.4 million tonnes, up from 46.1 million tonnes in the same month the previous year.
According to the company's provisional figures, offtake increased 7.6% during the month to 56.7 million tonnes from 52.7 million tonnes in August 2024.
IGL Inks Solar Power JV Deal
Natural gas distributor Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) declared that it and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) had signed a joint venture agreement for the establishment of a solar plant in Rajasthan with an estimated investment of Rs 3.8 billion (bn).
According to the company, the two will participate in a joint venture (JV) with an equity participation ratio of 74:26, which means that IGL will own 74% of the JV and RVUNL will own 26%.
Six directors will make up the JV's board of directors, with two coming from RVUNL and four nominated by IGL.
Additionally, according to the release, it will have a Rs 5 lakh initial paid-up capital that is split up into 50,000 equity shares, each worth Rs 10.
The JV's formation was first approved by IGL's board of directors in March.
Maruti Suzuki Sales Slump in August
Maruti Suzuki India revealed that its August total sales had slightly decreased to 1,80,683 units.
In the same month last year, the auto major sold 1,81,782 units.
According to a statement from Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), the company's total domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers decreased by 8% to 1,31,278 units from 1,43,075 units in the same month last year.
In August 2024, sales of cars in the mini segment, which included the Alto and S-Presso, fell to 6,853 units from 10,648 units.
Compact car sales, such as those of the Baleno, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, rose from 58,051 units to 59,597 units in the previous year
