Sensex Today Rallies 555 Points; Nifty Above 24,600

After opening the day higher, the benchmark indices continued their upward momentum, ended the session in green.

Indian equity market indices Senex and Nifty ended higher on Monday, snapping a three-day losing streak, as upbeat economic data lifted investor sentiment.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 555 points (up 0.7%).

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 198 points higher (up 0.8%).

M&M, Tata Motors, and Trent are among the top gainers today.

Sun Pharma, ITC, and HUL, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at  24,743, higher by 190 points at the time of writing.

The BSE MidCap index ended 1.6% higher, and the BSE SmallCap index ended 1.5% higher.

Sectoral indices are trading positively today, with stocks in the auto sector and the power sector witnessing buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 87.8 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.8% higher at Rs 104,716 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 1.8% higher at Rs 122,541 per 1 kg.
 

Premier Energies Shares Jumps on Order Win

In the news from the electronic manufacturing sector, shares of Premier Energies jumped 3% after its subsidiaries received orders worth Rs 27 billion (bn) from new and existing clients for supplying solar photovoltaic modules and cells.

With a total capacity commitment of 2,059 MW, these orders include the supply of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and cells. According to the company, the orders will be fulfilled during the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years.

Premier Energies' one-year lock-in period ends today, unlocking 185.2 million shares, or 41% of the company's total equity, for trading.
 

Bajaj Auto Shares Soar on Sales

Moving on to the news from auto sector, shares of Bajaj Auto jumped 4% following the release of the company's August 2025 sales figures.

n August 2025, the company reported total sales of 4,17,616 units, which represents a 5% year-over-year (Y-o-Y) increase over the 3,97,804 units sold in the same month the previous year.

The company's filing states that total exports for August increased by 29% year over year to 1,85,218 vehicles from 1,43,977 units during the same period last year.

In August 2025, Bajaj Auto sold 3,41,887 two-wheeler units, up 2% year over year from 3,35,178 units in August 2024. This category's performance was mixed, with exports rising 25% year over year and domestic sales declining 2%.

Sales of commercial vehicles increased 21% year over year to 75,729 units from 62,626 units the previous year.

In August, domestic sales increased 7% year over year to 48,289 units, while exports from this segment increased 58% year over year to 27,440 units.

During the April-August 2025 period, Bajaj Auto sold 18,94,853 units, a 2% increase over the 18,54,029 units sold the previous year. However, exports showed a strong 21% increase to 8,44,504 units, while domestic volumes dropped 9% to 10,50,349 units.

Axiscades Shares Jump on DRDO Deal

Moving on to the news from IT sector, shares of Axiscades surged 5% after the company announced that its subsidiary Mistral Solutions had won a development contract from the Ministry of Defence's DRDO to upgrade the Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.

Axiscades Technologies has secured a contract from DRDO's Combat Aircraft Systems Development and Integration Centre to design and develop 10 Electronic Control Units for the Su-30MKI aircraft's cooling system.

The projected Rs 0.03 bn prototype development phase is expected to be completed in 18 months.

With a projected need of 600 units, the order will proceed to the production stage after successful development, with an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 bn over a three to five-year period, the company stated.

Axiscades announced earlier in August that Axiscades Aerospace and Technologies Pvt Ltd, its wholly owned subsidiary, had inked a Rs 2.2 bn contract with the Indian Army.

Over the course of two years, the company will deliver 212 units of 50-ton tank transporter trailers as per the agreement.
