Nifty Above 24,500; Sensex Today Trades Higher

Asian markets traded lower on Monday as investors assessed the US federal appeals court ruling on Trump's reciprocal tariffs.

US stock market ended lower on Friday, as investors parsed inflation data showing tariffs have started feeding into prices.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 337 points higher, and the NSE Nifty is trading 106 points higher.

Infosys, Bajaj Finance, and TCS are among the top gainers today.

HUL, Maruti Suzuki, and Sun Pharma, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.7% higher, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 0.7% higher.

Barring the telecommunication sector, all other sectoral indices are trading positively today, with stocks in the power sector and the IT sector witnessing buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 87.3 against the US dollar.
 

RBL Bank Fundraise Via QIP Debt

RBL Bank declared that its board had approved a plan to raise up to Rs 30 billion (bn) through the issuance of debt securities and up to Rs 35 bn through the Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) of equity shares.

This brings the total amount of funding that the board of RBL Bank has approved through a combination of debt and equity instruments to Rs 65 bn.

The bank also stated that it will occasionally raise money through the issuance of debt securities in one or more tranches through private placement.
 

NHPC Clears Major Fundraising Plan

A revised borrowing plan of up to Rs 100 bn for FY 2025-2026 has been approved by the board of directors of state-owned NHPC Limited.

Secured or unsecured, redeemable, taxable, non-cumulative, and non-convertible corporate bonds in one or more series or tranches will be used to raise the money through private placement.

In appropriate tranches, the company may also raise money through external commercial borrowings (ECBs) or term loans.

NHPC's board has approved the monetization of future cash flow from Chamera-III and Parbati-III Power Stations, or other power stations, for 10 years in a single tranche during FY 2025-26, in the form of Return on Equity.

PNB Housing Finance Board Approves Fundraise

PNB Housing Finance Limited announced that its board of directors will meet on Friday, 5 September 2025, to consider about a plan to raise money by issuing non-convertible debentures (NCDs).

According to the company, the plan calls for private placement fundraising of up to Rs 50 bn in installments, with or without a green shoe option. The matter will be placed before the board for approval and necessary authorisations.

PNB Housing Finance is a housing finance company registered with National Housing Bank, primarily offering retail home loans, loans against property, and loans for non-residential premises.
 

Torrent Power Bags Huge Thermal Project

Torrent Power Ltd. has obtained a Letter of Award (LoA) from MP Power Management Company Ltd. (MPPMCL) for a 1,600 MW coal-based thermal project in Madhya Pradesh.

With a tariff of Rs 5.829 per kWh, the greenfield plant which is based on two 800 MW ultra-supercritical units will be built using the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model.

The Rs 22 bn project is the Torrent Group's largest power-related investment to date. Within 72 months of the power purchase agreement being signed, the plant should be put into service and provide MPPMCL with all its capacity.

MPPMCL will arrange the coal for the facility in accordance with the SHAKTI policy of the Ministry of Coal.

Torrent Power's new thermal plant will utilize ultra-supercritical technology, making it more efficient and environmentally friendly with lower carbon emissions. The project is expected to create 8,000-10,000 jobs during construction and 1,500 jobs once operational.

Vice Chairman and MD stated that the project would help stabilise the grid by providing dependable base load capacity and supporting India's goal of adding 80 GW of coal-based capacity by 2032.
