Trump rejected a one-year deal. Any guesses for how long now?

Big I Told You So

Well guess what. After refusing a one-year extension deal, Trump may agree to a multi-year extension.

Please note Trump says it ‘may be necessary’ to extend Obamacare subsidies that fueled shutdown

President Donald Trump now says extending Affordable Care Act subsidies “may be necessary” as the enrollment deadline looms for millions of Americans who are set to see their premiums skyrocket in the new year.

“Somebody said I want to extend it for two years. I don’t want to extend it for two years. I’d rather not extend them at all,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One on Tuesday night, pushing back on reports that the White House was going to pitch a plan that would have included a two-year extension of the subsidies.

Trump, though, notably went on to say “some kind of an extension may be necessary to get something else done because the unaffordable care act has been a disaster. It’s a disaster.”

Am I going to guarantee a vote on ACA unreformed COVID-era subsidies that is just a boondoggle to insurance companies and robs the taxpayer? We got a lot of work to do on that,” Johnson said in mid-November. “We, the Republicans, would demand a lot of reforms before anything like that was ever possible. And we have to go through that deliberative process.”

Some vulnerable Republicans, though, have pushed Johnson to hold a vote on the issue.

A poll from KFF taken right before the federal government shutdown began showed 78% of Americans said they want the ACA marketplace tax credits extended — including 59% of Republicans.

The clock is ticking for a solution for the estimated 22 million ACA enrollees currently receiving a tax credit to lower monthly premiums. December 15 is the deadline for Americans to sign up for or change a plan that begins coverage on Jan. 1. The last day to enroll is marketplace health plans for 2026 is Jan. 15.

Trump, on Air Force One on Tuesday, was pressed further on when he will unveil his health care plan and what may be included.

“Well, we’re looking at different alternatives. I mean, I like my plan the best,” Trump said before going on to repeat his idea to pay Americans directly to spend on health care.

“Don’t give any money to the insurance companies, give it to the people directly. Let ’em go out, buy their own healthcare plan. And we’re looking at that, if, if that can work. We’re looking at that. That’s sort of taken off. That’s what I like,” Trump said on Tuesday.

Trump Embraces Universal Basic Income

Trump on Truth Social: I am recommending to Senate Republicans that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money sucking Insurance Companies in order to save the bad Healthcare provided by ObamaCare, BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE, and have money left over. In other words, take from the BIG, BAD Insurance Companies, give it to the people, and terminate, per Dollar spent, the worst Healthcare anywhere in the World, ObamaCare. Unrelated, we must still terminate the Filibuster!

Obamacare Q&A of the Day

Q: Is there any time to fix Obamacare to Johnson’s satisfaction by December 15?
A: No

Q: Johnson says he won’t hold a vote. What’s gonna happen?
A: If Johnson does not agree to hold a vote, all the Democrats and a handful of Republicans will force a vote by means of discharge petition. This is the same setup as the Epstein forced vote.

Q: What then?
A: It’s precisely hard to say, but Republicans will be scrambling. It’s entirely possible to see a multi-year extension plus extra goodies to buy Republican votes.

Q: What does Trump want?
A: Free money. UBI

Q: Wouldn’t that be worse?
A: Of course, the spigot would never stop.

Q: Could anyone have possibly predicted this turn of events?
A: Absolutely not. Oh … wait a second.

Flashback November 7, 2025 MishTalk Democrats Offer a One-Year Obamacare Extension Deal. Should Republicans Accept?

Republicans would be crazy not to accept this offer. It’s just one year. And they can block further extensions easily.

Accepting a one-year extension that Democrats proposed would have cost $35 billion.

Sending money directly to the people is the start of Universal Basic Income (UBI). Once UBI starts neither party will be able to stop it.

We may easily get UBI (that trump wants along with Elizabeth Warren, AOC and others) plus an Obamacare extension.

Any guesses what the outcome of this new deal will cost?

Other Affordability News

November 26, 2025: The Senate Debates Car Affordability. I Have a Good Suggestion

Republicans debate safety features. OK, but let’s get basic.

Neither Republicans nor Democrats will do anything about affordability.

Affordability issues are primarily due to cheapening the dollar via excessive spending. Absurd tariffs add more pain.

Ignoring the obvious, Senator Cruz will hold Congressional hearings on auto safety.
