We are seeing something in the gold market that we haven't seen in 5 years, and the last time it happened, gold climbed from $1,167 to $2,090 - a near doubling - in less than two years. The last time open interest in gold was this low was in 2018, and that was the only time it happened since the current bull market began in 2015. It may not necessarily mean the next rally begins today, but it does suggest that when it does begin, it will be sustained and have longevity.

Meanwhile, what is happening with consumer prices today is very similar to what happened in the 1940s and the 1970s. Both decades had dual price inflation waves interrupted by a two year decline in the CPI. Both times, mind you, the second wave was much stronger.
